Chapter 629 Sacramento Antiquarian Book Fair Preview, Part 1, 1954 Ice Follies Photo Album

UPDATE: This item has sold.

Here’s one of the interesting items I thought I’d preview before the Sacramento Antiquarian Book Fair this weekend. It’s a photo album of the 1954 Ice Follies compiled by two of the Follies’ stars, Phyllis and Harris Legg, for two of their fans. The album contains 26 black and white, original press photographs of individual performers and large scale productions at the Ice Follies that year. The album also has several newspaper clippings, ticket stubs, and Christmas cards laid-in or tipped-in. Though the Ice Follies was intended to be a lavish spectacle, reviewing the photographs as a collection reveals how much the costumes and athleticism of the Ice Follies performers influenced modern competitive figure skating. It’s a fun and different kind of find for me. If you have any interest in this item, come see me at the book fair this weekend or, if you can’t make it to the fair, please leave a comment below or send me an email to chrisATbookhuntersholidayDOTcom. Thanks for looking!
