Chapter 603 Christmas Books, Part 3

Here’s one of my favorite Christmas-themed book bindings. It’s just as pretty as a shelf decoration as it is a lovely book. A jewel of book, I think to myself, when I look at it.

Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern, Edited with Notes by Joshua Sylvestre, with illustrations. Published by A. Wessels Company in New York, 1905. Delightful decorative endpapers in a holiday design bear the message, “Your hand, good friend / this holy Christmastide / We’ll form a chain of kindly hearts / Whose every living link shall throb / With joyous life and love.” Each page with green, Christmas-themed, decorative borders.

I sure wish trade book design was still this beautiful to behold.

See you in the stacks!
