Chapter 528 Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to you!

It’s been a sad few days around here, but one blessing of having kids is that life continues apace, whether you’re tired or grieving or not. That is a good thing.

Yesterday Tom and Huck created one of their annual Leprechaun Traps. Each year they build a trap to try to capture the Leprechaun on St. Patrick’s Day, and each year the Leprechaun visits, leaving his footprints and some treasure behind, but he is never caught. Would it be any different this year?

Here’s the trap:

It’s made out of an old shoe box. This year, the boys hung a shiny coin on a string above a trap door. To make the Leprechaun’s job easier, they built a small ladder and and had a convenient sign with an arrow that reads, “That way to gold”. Beneath the trap door, they layered lots and lots of double-sided tape so that when the Leprechaun fell through the door he’d be stuck until Tom and Huck woke up in the morning. They were certain when they went to sleep last night that this year would be the year they’d capture the Leprechaun.

Imagine their surprise when they awoke this morning to find this:

The Leprechaun had come to visit in the night. And he got away again! He left behind a couple of chocolate Leprechaun decoys (see above) and a few chocolate shamrocks.

He sure is a sneaky guy.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
