Chapter 378 Can You Answer a Question for Me?

It’s been a busy weekend filled with everything from magicians to parties to sports games. I want to tell you all about my visit to Electronic Arts last Friday to learn about their new game, Dante’s Inferno, and tell you how it compares to the book. That’s going to have to wait one more day, however, as I just don’t have the time to write a decent post at the moment.

In the meantime, perhaps one of you dear readers can help me answer a question from Bill, a regular reader of this blog. He asks,

“Do you know of any book blogs from the collector’s point of view, rather than the bookseller’s? It seems most of the blogs I have found are from those in the business.”

I can’t think of any blogs by book collectors right off the top of my head, but I am sure some must exist. I’d be interested to read them, too, because I think a collector’s voice provides a needed perspective for us booksellers. If you know of any, please leave a comment below with a link. Thanks!

More on last Friday’s field trip tomorrow.

Chapter 371 Little Blog on the Prairie

There’s a new Laura Ingalls Wilder blog: Beyond Little House.

Written by a group of Laura Ingalls Wilder fans and scholars, the blog has many contributors. It also has a section called, “Ask the Experts”, which is a place for readers to have their unanswered questions about Laura answered.

According to the site, “a few Laura fans got together and realized that in spite of all the invaluable information available all across the Internet about Laura Ingalls Wilder, there’s no easy way to get to it. No clearinghouse. No crossroads. And who’s to say that the info you come across is accurate or relevant? So we wanted to make sure anyone who wanted info on Laura had a place to come they could trust. And Beyond Little House was born.”

I’ve bookmarked the site, and if you’re a fan of the Little House on the Prairie books, I suggest you do the same.

Chapter 349 Busy in a Good Way

Today and tomorrow are going to be quite busy. I have a couple of orders to pack and ship, have promised to read a draft of a colleague’s catalogue introduction, and need to collate and catalogue several items for another colleague.

The combination of talking with bookseller friends, cataloguing, and proofreading mean that I’m having fun in all facets of my job. And I am definitely looking forward to working for my mentor, Mr. Z at next week’s San Francisco International Antiquarian Book Fair. I can’t have my own booth at this particular fair because the booths are open only to ABAA members, and I am not one (yet). I can, though, help Mr. Z during the hours the fair is open to the public, so I plan to man the booth while he shops. Stop by and introduce yourself if you’re at the fair.

So, I apologize for the short post, but when business calls, I answer! (At least I try to, lol.)

In the meantime, here’s an interesting new blog by a bookseller. Enjoy!
